What moves the price

The M03 is Mauser's answer to the Blaser R8 — a modular switch-barrel rifle aimed at the same buyer. It sells for noticeably less second hand than the equivalent Blaser, which makes it the value pick of the two if you do not mind the smaller support network.

Our results show a wide spread, and it is almost entirely about what is included. A bare receiver-and-one-barrel rifle sits at the bottom; a multi-calibre set with spare bolt heads and good glass sits several times higher.

Price the components separately before you agree a package figure. Barrels are the expensive part and a seller quoting a single number for a big set is usually assuming full retail on all of it.

Retail expectation: £2,000 to £3,500 from a dealer for a standard configuration.
