What moves the price
The No.1 is the No.2's better-finished sibling — same layout, more hand work, and a clear premium at auction. Our results show it making roughly double the No.2 in the equivalent bore.
The same warnings apply: measure the walls, check the reproof, and read the stock dimensions before the engraving. A No.1 with thin barrels is a wall hanger, not a bargain.
Small bores again carry a substantial premium over 12-bores. If you are buying to keep, the 20-bore is the one that holds value; if you are buying to shoot pheasants every Saturday, the 12 is cheaper and does the job.
Retail expectation: £3,000 to £5,500 from a dealer, depending on bore, walls and originality.
